Senior Traffic Coordinator - Procurement

Essential Job Functions:

  • Represents traffic as an interface among, Project Procurement Manager, purchasing, expediting, project management, engineering, and project controls on traffic/transportation activities.
  • Under the guidance of the Traffic Manager participates in bidder development, RFQ's and bid analysis for transportation related services.
  • Under the guidance of the Traffic Manager, issues purchase orders to transportation service providers, and actively administers those purchase orders through to completion.
  • Updates and manages the transportation status in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Takes preventative measures on discovered potential problems.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and audits the performance of all 3rd party logistics services provided for the Traffic Manager.
  • Implements procedures and contingency plans for equipment/material requiring premium transportation to meet jobsite delivery requirements.
  • Coordinates expediting and tracing activities with 3rd party logistics providers, carriers, shippers, or forwarders, as necessary.
  • Assists buyers during bidder evaluation for equipment/material on all transportation cost related issues.
  • Develops projects specific & purchase order specific shipping instructions.
  • Maintains the highest ethical and professional standards as established by the corporation.
  • Ensures that all departmental guidelines are followed.

Essential Job Functions Under Certain Circumstances

  • Coordinates shortage & damage claims, as applicable.
  • Assumes the duties of the Traffic Manager his/her absence.
  • Has functional relationship with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Controls, Field personnel and FW Shops.
Qualifications: 

5+ years project logistics experience including (preference shown to those with a international project freight forwarding background):

o Experience working with ocean carriers (LCL, FCL, BB, Part-Charters and Charters)

o Knowledge of Export packing requirements

o 3+ years managing office

o Export Compliance Trained

o Hazardous Materials Handling and Transportation Trained

o Knowledge of general Customs' import rules and regulations including HTS codes determination

o Working knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint

o Able to work independently and meet deadlines

- Other experience and training not required but preferred:

o Air cargo shipping

o Knowledge of Heavy Haul and Transportation of OD materials

o Working knowledge of international Letters of Credit (preferably)

o EXIM Back Financing compliance and reporting

o Knowledge of Arabic
