Upstream (Operations Manager)

Duties:Directs large and/or complex and/or high-priority upstream projects (onshore or offshore) via a team of project managers, engineering managers and specialist discipline engineers.  These projects will require considerable organizational resources and high levels of functional integration.  Accountable for the financial performance and HSE of each upstream project and upstream engineering discipline.  Applies extensive and comprehensive knowledge of the organization's work processes, business practices and the roles and functions of assigned project team members to plan, organize, direct and control all activities on assigned project(s). Support project managers who will work closely and effectively with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.  Sets guidance and expectations for quality and/or safety standards.  Is responsible for meeting or exceeding as-sold financial objectives of all projects in the upstream portfolio, timely delivery and achieving a high degree of customer satisfaction.  Displays sound judgment concerning the need to consult with inter-project/ inter-division management and senior corporate management concerning unusual problems and day-to-day Foster Wheeler growth plans.  Day-to-day supervision is administrative. While accepting responsibility for all projects, recognizes that the various project managers have ultimate responsibility, through the assigned managing and lead project team members, for the technical adequacy of the work and may, therefore, monitor the work related to their discipline at any time.
Qualifications:Must have a bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 15 years experience following graduation in an appropriate engineering discipline, which includes successfully working as a project manager on an onshore or offshore project.  Experience of both onshore and offshore upstream projects with strong experience in one with related field construction/ installation aspects of the engineering and construction business.  Minimum of 10 years actual project management experience on a number of projects, some of which will have been substantial in size or multiple projects.  Has established a strong network, good rapport, and able to develop sponsorship and trust of senior client and Foster Wheeler management. Must be able to deal with a variety of domestic and foreign clients.  Overall, a minimum of 15-20 years career experience.
