| Description: | A fully competent estimator in all conventional aspects of the estimating field. |
| Duties: | Plans and conducts work requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection and significant adaptation and deviation from standard techniques and procedures. Develops new techniques and solutions and suggests improvements. Independently performs most assignments. Receives technical guidance only on very unusual or complex problems. Plans work for self and others to meet deadlines without supervisory action. As a cost expert, he/she plans, schedules and completes estimates under minimal supervision. May coordinate the work of other estimators. |
| Qualifications: | Drafting school graduate or 2 years at a technical/engineering college; extensive work experience in lieu of degree accepted. Basic knowledge of estimating principle and practices accompanied by a developing knowledge of upstream technology in general. Knowledge of techniques for material take-offs, labor estimates and budget allocations. Computer literate in spreadsheets and word processing 10 or more years experience. |
